UPDATE (February 20, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify some of the details of what occurred during this accident. According to these reports, Lt. Joseph Boehm was traveling in a northbound Honda CR-V on F.M. 757 in the vicinity of the F.M. 2767 intersection when the accident occurred. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Honda allegedly neglected to stop for a stop sign and entered the intersection at an unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to highway traffic. This resulted in a collision between the Honda and a Dodge Challenger which had been westbound on F.M. 2767, Old Kilgore Highway.

Boehm reportedly incurred fatal injuries due to the collision and was declared deceased at the scene. An occupant of the Charger sustained injuries of unknown severity, as well, and was taken to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.

The investigation continues.

Smith County, TX — February 17, 2024, Lt. Joseph Boehm was killed and another person was injured in a car accident just after 6:45 p.m. along Old Kilgore Hwy.

According to authorities, 29-year-old Lieutenant Joseph Boehm, who was a member of the Winona Volunteer Fire Department, was involved in a car accident on Saturday night.

The causal factors that led to the accident are still unclear. Reports have not yet been made on the location of the accident, nor the number of people and vehicles involved. It has been confirmed, however, that Lt. Boehm lost his life, as a result.

The weather and road conditions in the area have not been reported on, either. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
