Accident Report
January 28, 2026, Lionnie Randle was injured due to a car accident shortly after 11:30 p.m. along Alrover Street.
According to authorities, 57-year-old Lionnie Randle was traveling in a westbound Ford Escape on Fuqua Street at the Alrover Street intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a Chevrolet Impala occupied by a 63-year-old man that had been traveling northbound on Alrover Street entered the intersection at a purportedly unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign. A collision consequently occurred between the front-end of the Impala and the left side of the Escape.
Randle reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. The man from the Impala was apparently unhurt, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Looking at this accident, I hope the authorities in charge of its investigation do not jump to conclusions. It’s true, human error is a factor in the vast majority of car accidents; however, just because something happens often does not mean it happens all the time. I know this, because I have spent a significant part of the last three decades analyzing car accidents. I’ve seen cases where investigators assume the sole cause of a wreck was driver error, but later it comes out that a vehicle defect played a significant role.
If these investigators are worth their salt, they will take the time and put in the effort necessary to get a vehicle inspection done on the Impala. That way, mechanical malfunctions that could have contributed to the wreck—such as brake malfunction, for example—can be unearthed. Unfortunately, these inspections are not done routinely in most investigations. It could be that a special request will have to be made and a fair amount of persistence shown in order to make sure it happens.
Let me know in the comments whether or not you agree with me, but the people affected by this accident—Lionnie Randle and his loved ones—deserve to have the whole picture, not just bits and pieces that careless people would call “adequate”. In my opinion “good enough” isn’t good enough.
