Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

In these situations, I’ve learned from experience that it usually takes experienced, well-equipped investigators to look into things. They can consider complex possibilities such as manufacturing defects, road design flaws, tire blowouts, and other less common details, helping to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.

Obviously there are more common possibilities with single-vehicle wrecks, including speeding, fatigue, and alcohol. The problem, though, is people often jump to conclusions, and those conclusions could be very wrong and therefore harmful to the victims and families. I certainly can’t say how this crash could have been avoided, but there’s no reason to risk false accusations when one can simply wait for the evidence to speak for itself. Why would this crash be an exception to that?
