Colfax County, NM — February 9, 2024, a baby was killed and Kiustyn De La Torre and three others were hurt in a truck accident at 5:21 p.m. on U.S. 64/87.
According to officials, the crash happened just east of Raton along eastbound lanes of the highway.
Investigators said that 41-year-old Kiustyn Martin De La Torre was driving a Dodge Ram pickup with multiple passengers along U.S. 64/87. The pickup was apparently going “at a slow rate of speed” at the time, and the pickup’s emergency lights were on. Somehow, an approaching semi-truck did not avoid the pickup, crashing into it from behind.
Due to the collision, a baby in the pickup sustained fatal injuries. De La Torre and at least three others were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Right now, details about possible charges or citations are unclear.
