Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It’s always important after a car accident like this to let the evidence speak for itself. Despite all of the different reasons this sort of crash can happen, people usually just assume the driver was being reckless. Is that possible? Sure, but there’s no telling what authorities may have overlooked in their initial investigations.
Authorities don’t often prioritize single-vehicle wrecks, so they often make mistakes or miss important details. Mechanical defects, medical conditions, faulty tires or brakes, issues with the road like missing signage—these are things which require a lot of experience and particular tools to properly investigate. With a lot of crashes victims and families ask me about, our independent efforts find that authorities never bothered looking into any of those possibilities. That’s why things can easily slip through the cracks. I don’t know anything specific about what did or didn’t happen in this crash, but no one should have to worry that they’re not getting the full story.
