A single-vehicle crash involving a commercial truck is bound to present more significant challenges than a typical car crash. For one, there’s the obvious added challenge of a bigger vehicle creating a more chaotic accident scene. They can demand a lot more from investigators than a standard scene reconstruction, and sometimes authorities don’t have the time or tools to handle all of that on their own.

Additionally, though, there’s the complexity of investigating someone’s employer and possible factors behind the scenes that could have contributed to the crash. Was the truck not being maintained properly? Was the driver being forced to work unsafe hours? Was their trailer overloaded? Were they pressured to meet unrealistic deadlines?

These are questions that independent accident reconstructionists have experience with, but authorities rarely are able to dig beyond the crash scene. As such, getting a complete picture of what ultimately caused this crash might take more than a standard police investigation. Are those steps being taken?
