Corpus Christi, TX — March 9, 2023, Kathleen Morris and another were injured due to an accident involving an allegedly drunk driver.
Authorities said that the incident happened just before 4:00 a.m. in the area of Cimarron Boulevard and Saratoga Boulevard.
It appears that 29-year-old Kathleen Morris and a 37-year-old man were in a Ford Focus that was traveling southbound along Cimarron. While in the center turn lane, a northbound Chevy Suburban drove along the turn lane and crashed head-on into Morris’s vehicle.
Both Morris and her passenger had injuries said to be incapacitating. No further injuries were reported. According to officials, the Chevy driver had a .251 BAC following the crash. Charges are possibly pending at this time.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Put simply, driving drunk is undeniably and obviously dangerous. But getting behind the wheel while over three times the legal limit is just beyond the pale. A lot of people black out before they get to that point, so saying a driver that intoxicated wasn’t fit to drive is a severe understatement. But are they the only ones responsible for that? Legally speaking, maybe not.
Drunk drivers obviously need to have their day in court. But there are businesses out there such as bars and restaurants that illegally over-serve people who are obviously intoxicated. If they do so, they can face serious consequences, such as their license being suspended, facing fines from the TABC, or even being liable under dram shop law for harm caused by that person’s intoxication.
The main reason I bring this up is, as I said, the allegedly drunk driver’s BAC was at an extreme level. If a local establishment helped someone get to that level of intoxication, there’s a very strong possibility they played a role in this crash, and they could continue to put others at risk if they don’t get a clear wake up call. Hopefully authorities here expand their investigations to make sure all responsible parties are brought to answer for their mistakes.
