Menard County, TX — November 11, 2023, Kassandra Perez was killed following a commercial truck accident at around 8:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 190.
Investigators said in public statements that the crash took place in the area of mile marker 426, just east of the town of Menard.
Initial details about the wreck say that 30-year-old Kassandra Perez was driving a Kia Sorento eastbound along U.S. 190. Approaching an oncoming 18-wheeler, details say that Perez’s Kia somehow went into oncoming lanes. As a result, the vehicles collided head-on, killing Perez. there were no other confirmed injuries.

Currently, there is no confirmed cause for the accident available to the public. Perhaps authorities have been able to make a determination behind the scenes, though a crash this devastating isn’t likely to be simple. In fact, I’ve worked in many rural counties across Texas where the officers saw maybe one or two crashes of this magnitude throughout their whole career. Unfortunately, that’s why a lot of those departments don’t bother getting state-of-the-art accident reconstruction equipment.
Whoever is handling this situation may not be one such department, and like I said, maybe the victim’s loved ones are actually getting answers even if the public isn’t. But if an independent professional accident reconstructionist were to look this over and find authorities missed all kinds of crucial details, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time.
