Sugar Land, TX — February 7, 2024, Joseph Aponte was killed in a car accident at approximately 10:30 a.m. along U.S. Highway 90.
According to authorities, police attempted a traffic stop for a suspect vehicle on U.S. Highway 90 in Stafford, but the vehicle reportedly fled; a chase was initiated.
The suspect vehicle reportedly made it as far as the U.S. Highway 90 intersection with Gillingham Lane in Sugar Land where it allegedly ran a red light. As a result, the suspect vehicle was involved in a collision with a separate vehicle occupied by Joseph Aponte.
Due to the collision, Aponte reportedly incurred fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene of the accident. The three occupants of the suspect vehicle apparently incurred injuries of unknown severity; they were transported to a local medical center by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
