Laredo, TX — July 15, 2024, Jose Miguel Fernandez Hernandez was fatally injured due to a car accident late Monday along San Dario Avenue.
According to initial details released by authorities, the collision happened at the intersection of San Dario Avenue and Tacuba Street.
It appears that 40-year-old Jose Fernandez Hernandez was working in the area along with a 22-year-old. Fernandez Hernandez was using a leaf blower and reportedly in a lane of travel when an SUV reportedly struck Fernandez Hernandez and the other person with him. As a result, Fernandez Hernandez was killed. The other person was injured.
Right now, authorities are citing visibility as a contributing factor in the accident. I wouldn’t take that at face value without seeing evidence myself. Besides, the fact this apparently happened on the job can inherently make an accident a lot more challenging to handle. Not only does it involve the typical hurdles that come with a crash investigation, but it also raises questions about working conditions and whether or not an employee was put in danger by their employer’s negligence. Is that something authorities have addressed here, or have their investigations failed to consider anything beyond how dark it was at the time of the accident?
