Shelby County, IN — January 29, 2024, Johnathon May was killed while Gary Jaquess and Alexis Eversole were injured in a truck accident along State Road 9.
According to authorities, 23-year-old Johnathon May and 22-year-old Alexis Eversole were traveling in a southbound Jeep Liberty along State Road 9 in the vicinity of the West 1000 North intersection when the accident occurred.
Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the Jeep failed so safely maintain its lane of travel. It allegedly veered left of center and entered the northbound lane of the roadway. This resulted in a collision with an oncoming 18-wheeler occupied by 65-year-old Gary Jaquess.
May incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the wreck and was declared deceased at the scene. Jaquess and Eversole sustained injuries of unknown severity; they were each transported to a local hospital in order to receive necessary treatment.
