Freestone County, TX — January 3, 2024, John Perkins Jr. was injured as the result of a tractor-trailer accident at around 4:45 a.m. along Interstate 45.
According to preliminary information released by investigators, the crash happened along northbound lanes of the interstate north of Buffalo.
Officials said that 44-year-old John Perkins Jr. was in a Kia Sportage going along the interstate. Ahead, it appears an 18-wheeler had crashed after skidding on an icy roadway, leaving the back end of the trailer stationary across the left lane of travel. Perkins tried to avoid the trailer, but a collision occurred, following which the Kia then collided with a second 18-wheeler that was in the right lane.
Perkins reportedly had serious injuries as a result of the accident. There were no other confirmed injuries relating to the two collisions described above. Right now, additional details are unavailable pending more thorough investigations.
