How Did This Accident Occur?

Without further information, it would be irresponsible to speculate about what went wrong here. It could be anything from equipment malfunction to reckless business practices to a medical condition to someone from another company making a mistake. What remains consistent, however, is that Texas has the most complex work fatality laws in the country.

Despite what many think, there isn’t always an automatic process for getting a worker’s family benefits after an accident. That’s sometimes between them and the employer to figure out, and employers rarely prioritize the needs of families above their own. So whatever ultimately happened here, it’s important that there is a clear path for the victim’s loved ones to navigate the legal maze that is Texas work fatality law. A lot of families find that having independent investigators look things over to ensure OSHA didn’t miss anything is a good place to start.
