Gonzales, TX — February 20, 2023, Joel Campos was fatally injured due to a single-vehicle accident at around 1:00 a.m. along Highway 97.
Preliminary details about the crash say that it occurred in the area of the Highway 97 and U.S. Highway 183 intersection.
According to officials, 30-year-old Joel Campos was in a Chevy Silverado traveling along Highway 97. While rounding a curve in the road, the pickup somehow left its lane to the right. This led to the vehicle going off-road where it crashed into a street sign before then going into a culvert. This then caused the truck to go airborne and overturn.
Campos sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the fatal accident. The cause of the crash cannot currently be confirmed without more thorough investigations.
