Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
After any fatal work accident, it’s important that an accident gets the attention it deserves. People often believe that OSHA takes care of everything and that there’s an automatic process to do right by the worker’s family. In reality, Texas has uniquely complex work fatality laws. There isn’t always a guaranteed path for families to get benefits or answers. That’s why many families need help from experienced professionals independent of OSHA who can put their needs first, rather than just looking for the bare minimum needed to issue citations. Hopefully steps were taken here to treat this accident with the respect and care it deserved.
