Port Arthur, TX — January 7, 2024, James Robinson was fatally injured due to a single-vehicle car accident just before 1:00 a.m. on Lake Arthur Drive.
It appears that the crash took place along Lake Arthur Drive just east of the intersection with North Memorial Boulevard (U.S. Highway 69/96).

According to officials, 51-year-old James Robinson was in a Ford F-150 going westbound along Lake Arthur Drive. At a curve in the road, the vehicle somehow lost control, went off the roadway, and crashed into a concrete barrier. Due to this, Robinson was thrown from the vehicle. Robinson sustained fatal injuries as a result.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
While I can’t say exactly what all authorities have done to investigate this crash, single-vehicle wrecks in general rarely get the attention they deserve. Folks don’t realize just how complex they can be, and without the right tools and training, important details can easily slip through the cracks.
For example, a family came to us a while back with a fatal crash, and they wanted a second opinion on the reports to make sure they weren’t missing anything. We found that authorities claimed the victim hadn’t been wearing a seatbelt, but the only reason they said that was because the victim was thrown from the vehicle. That’s usually why an ejection occurs, of course, but the fact the victim was someone who always wore their seatbelt was enough for us to take a closer look at the crash.
So we got in touch with an independent specialist experienced with things like mechanical defects and had them conduct a more thorough examination of the vehicle. Lo and behold, they found that the victim’s seatbelt pretensioner failed, causing him to be thrown from the vehicle despite being buckled in at the time of the crash.
My point is that I believe that a victim’s loved ones have every right to demand that crash investigations rule out issues beyond the obvious.
