Cameron County, TX — February 9, 2024, Ismael Cervantes was killed in a motorcycle versus car accident at approximately 8:45 p.m. along the I.H. 69E frontage road.
According to authorities, 18-year-old Ismael Cervantes was traveling on a northwest bound Yamaha motorcycle on the frontage road for Interstate Highway 69E in the vicinity south of Price Road when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, an SUV making a right turn from a private drive failed to yield the right of way to northbound traffic. This resulted in a collision between the motorcycle and the SUV. Cervantes was reportedly ejected from the motorcycle, landing in an active lane of the roadway. He was then allegedly struck by a northbound Ford Fusion. Cervantes incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the accident and was declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.
