Galveston County, TX — May 21, 2023, Irvin Gonzalez was injured as the result of a pedestrian accident at around 12:55 a.m. along Highway 87.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it took place in the area of Highway 87 and Yacht Basin Road.
Statements from officials say that 27-year-old Irvin Gonzalez was outside of a vehicle that was parked along the shoulder due to what was called a “bathroom emergency”. While there, it appears a Ford F-150 going eastbound veered in and out of its lane before going onto the shoulder and hitting Gonzalez and the nearby parked vehicle.
As a result of the collision, Gonzalez sustained reportedly incapacitating injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries. While statements show that the F-150 driver claimed a broken ball joint caused their vehicle to lose control, authorities allege that driver was under the influence of alcohol. They recommended there be a charge for DWI against that driver. Additional information is unclear at this time.
