Midland County, TX — September 5, 2023, Herardo Canales was killed in a collision with a semi-truck around 7:35 a.m. on Highway 349 in Midland County.
Sources report Mr. Canales’s Chevy Silverado was heading north on the highway when his vehicle somehow collided with the driver-side of a southbound Kenworth semi-truck. The victim’s pickup truck purportedly drove off the western side of the road and its nose struck a fence. Officials report the semi-truck, rotated clockwise, slid sideways off the western side of the highway, overturned several times, and then collided with the same fence that the pickup had struck.
Herardo Canales, 37, was reportedly rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital, but his injuries ultimately proved to be fatal. The 65-year-old truck driver was reportedly uninjured.
Reports indicate authorities have not determined the cause of the crash.
