UPDATE (May 19, 2023): Recent information from authorities identified one of the victims hurt in the crash as 20-year-old Hailan Al Hishmawi. Al Hishmawi was said to be one of the people exchanging information following the initial crash. The others involved in the crash have yet to be identified. Details regarding potential DWI charges against the driver that hit Al Hishmawi and the other victims are pending further investigations.
San Antonio, TX — May 2, 2023, three people were injured following an alleged DWI accident at around 11:30 p.m. along Loop 1604.
Investigators said that the incident took place in the area of Bitters Road. There was apparently a previous crash along Loop 1604 involving two vehicles. Those two drivers were said to be exchanging information at the time. While doing so, police say that an SUV crashed into the stopped vehicles.
As a result of the secondary collision, it appears three people were injured. One of the victim’s injuries were described as critical. It’s unclear which vehicles the victims were from, and authorities have not publicly identified anyone at this time.
Following preliminary investigations, authorities arrested the SUV driver for allegedly driving while intoxicated. Authorities did not release additional specifics regarding that driver or the allegations. Investigations are ongoing.
