Dallas, TX — April 20, 2024, Gleiber Rodriguez Lopez and one other were injured following a car accident around midnight along the Dallas North Tollway.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened along southbound lanes of the tollway just north of Mockingbird Lane.

It appears that 26-year-old Gleiber Rodriguez Lopez was in a Honda Accord going southbound on DNT when an initial collision with a Dodge Dart occurred. Details suggest the Honda and the Dodge stopped, following which a Mercedes-Benz reportedly failed to control speed, hitting both the Dodge and Rodriguez Lopez’s Honda. Rodriguez Lopez sustained serious injuries as a result. The Mercedes-Benz driver also reportedly had injuries.
Right now, additional details about the accidents are unavailable.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With a series of events like this, people tend to think the first collision is always the cause of everything that happened afterward. That’s understandable, but the law is generally more complex than that. Even when there are multiple collisions, the first one isn’t always the same reason why someone was injured.
For example, if two cars crash, and then a nearby third driver has no time or space to avoid hitting those vehicles, then whatever caused the first crash would likely be the pivotal factor to investigate. However, if two vehicles involved in a wreck are clearly visible, and other drivers can see and go around them, a driver failing to avoid them and crashing can mean that driver was doing something wrong. Injuries resulting from that second collision, then, would be the result of those mistakes and not necessarily whatever caused the initial crash.
So as I read these preliminary details, my hope is people aren’t jumping to conclusions. A multi-vehicle wreck—especially so early in the morning—is bound to raise some challenges authorities might not be able to clear up on their own. So until all of these events are clear, it’s best to consider all possible sides of how this could have been avoided.
