Chatham County, GA — February 21, 2024, two people were killed following a fiery multi-truck accident late Wednesday at the Georgia Welcome Center.
Authorities with the Georgia State Patrol said the incident happened in the parking lot of the Georgia State Patrol along the side of Interstate 95.

According to current statements, the crash happened when a tractor-trailer was apparently going through the parking lot at a high speed. In doing so, the 18-wheeler crashed with another semi, causing a chain-reaction with multiple other trucks. This then resulted in vehicles catching fire.
As a result of the collisions, the driver of the truck hit by the first 18-wheeler was killed. The first truck driver also reportedly suffered fatal injuries. Authorities did not specify any other injuries resulting from the crash. While a medical emergency has been mentioned as a possible factor in the crash, the cause of the accident remains unconfirmed.
