Amarillo, TX — June 16, 2024, Fabian Gonzales was injured as the result of a motorcycle accident at around 12:24 a.m. along Virginia Circle.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened off the corner of Virginia Circle and Wolflin Avenue, just off I-40.
According to officials, 26-year-old Fabian Elijah Gonzales was on a Harley Davidson motorcycle going northbound along Virginia Circle. At Wolflin, the vehicle reportedly continued straight at the t-intersection, causing the bike to lose control and crash along the median. Due to the crash, Gonzales had serious injuries. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident.

While the cause of this accident isn’t clear right now, some may have already jumped to conclusions. The unfortunate reality is that many have an immediate negative opinion of motorcyclists. Even without knowing the evidence, they may just assume that a rider was being reckless. That’s obviously possible, but any unusual or unavoidable factor that one would consider for a typical car accident is worth exploring in an accident like this, as well.
Were there issues with lighting or signage? Did the vehicle experience brake failure? Did a tire blow out? Was there another reckless driver that left the scene? At the end of the day, the facts need to speak for themselves, and that requires investigations from people who won’t let their bias get between them and the evidence.
