Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

People tend to think accidents involving alcohol are straight-forward. Authorities file their charges, and that’s that, right? Well, not always. A lot of the time, drunk drivers were unlawfully over-served by alcohol providers, which means those alcohol providers could potentially be held accountable. Unfortunately, that’s where authorities often come up short.

I’ve handled hundreds of cases involving negligent alcohol providers contributing to serious accidents. Rarely are the authorities looking into things on their own. I’ve even had cases where we handed evidence to officials on a silver platter, and they still felt they had better things to do. It’s just another reasons independent investigations are generally more reliable after a serious accident like this. Either they can confirm authorities are looking at this from all angles, or they can catch anything important authorities let slip through the cracks.
