Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Following single-vehicle wrecks, one of the primary concerns people have is just making sure their side of the story is being told fairly. That’s totally reasonable, and in fact it’s prudent. Single-vehicle wrecks are often treated as a low priority for the authorities, so officers sometimes move on without actually getting the whole story.

That’s why it can be crucial to follow up with authorities instead of waiting around for their investigations. When confronted with questions and concerns, if authorities can provide convincing answers, that’s probably a sign they did good investigations. But if it seems like their answers are coming up short, that may be a sign the crash needs an independent investigator looking things over.
