Hidalgo County, TX — July 17, 2024, Edith Viveros was injured following a car accident shortly before 6:15 p.m. along Shary Road.
According to authorities, 40-year-old Edith Viveros was traveling in a northbound BMW on Shary Road at the Mile 5 Road intersection when the accident took place.
The intersection is reportedly controlled by a traffic signal. As the light turned green, the BMW entered the intersection. However, officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southbound Toyota Camry on Shary attempted a left turn onto eastbound Mile 5 Road at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. This resulted in a collision between the front-left quarter of the BMW and the front-end of the Camry. The impact caused the Camry to be pushed backward, resulting in a secondary collision with a southbound Ford Bronco SUV.
Viveros suffered reportedly serious injuries as a result of the wreck; she was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
