Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
While details can’t be confirmed right now, authorities have said that potentially alcohol or medical issues could have played a role in the accident. While it’s not clear what they’re basing that on, it’s not something I see all the time. Frankly, I spend more time reading about accidents where authorities immediately assume something like alcohol led to a crash without so much as considering the possibility the victim did nothing wrong. Even then, they don’t often continue to look into where the alcohol came from and if the victim had been unlawfully over-served by a bar
My hope in seeing the possibility of medical conditions brought up here is that it’s a sign authorities are being more thorough and considering other possible factors. That said, I wouldn’t take anything they say at face value without seeing clear evidence.
