UPDATE (July 26, 2023): Recent details from authorities clarified that there were two other possible injuries resulting from the crash. They were the driver of a Chevy Silverado, 32-year-old Brandon Lee Blaine and an unidentified 30-year-old woman. Currently, there are no additional details to confirm.
Nueces County, TX — July 3, 2023, Debra Cates was killed and four were injured following a car accident late Monday along Highway 361.
Investigators said that the incident happened in the Mustang Ridge area near La Concha Boulevard. It appears that the incident happened as a vehicle traveling along northbound lanes of the highway attempted to make a turn at La Concha Boulevard. As it did so, it crossed paths and collided with a southbound vehicle.
Due to this collision, 68-year-old Debra Cates sustained fatal injuries. Four others were reportedly taken from the scene with injuries. Their current conditions aren’t clear. Authorities have not yet reported any contributing factors surrounding the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
