Clay County, TX — August 8, 2025, David Hager was injured as the result of a car accident that happened around 1:30 a.m. along US Highway 82/287.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened just outside the town of Jolly, west of Henrietta.
Investigators said that 66-year-old David Hager was in a Chevy Suburban going southeast along the highway. In a series of events unclear, the vehicle lost control and crashed. David Hager was seriously injured as a result.
At this time, additional details about the accident remain unclear.

A concern that too often goes overlooked with single-vehicle wrecks is that they aren’t automatically the victim’s fault. Driver error is always important to investigate, but plenty of other facts need attention, too. Road conditions, tire failure, vehicle defects, medical conditions, hit-and-runs, issues with lighting or signage, etc. Either authorities will take steps to consider the situation from all angles, or they’ll leave gaps in the story that need to be filled in by more thorough independent investigations. I don’t currently see why this crash would be an exception to that.
