Cow, DUI, Truck Accident on I-75 in Loudon County, TN

The events reportedly began with a semi-trailer hauling cattle which reportedly lost a cow on the roadway due to the gate being open. That cow then ran into traffic, ultimately resulting in a crash. Following this, as traffic built, a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck occurred. One person involved was arrested for DUI, but it’s unclear who or if impairment was the cause of the crash.

Several injuries were reported in the chain of events, though details about the victims and their injuries are unavailable right now.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

To say there will need to be thorough investigations into this complex series of events would be an understatement. Finding out how a cattle truck let a cow fall into the roadway, how that led to a crash, and whether or not an impaired driver then added to all of the chaos or was just in the wrong place at the wrong time—that all is anything but straight forward. I often talk about the importance of independent investigations when it comes to getting victims and families clear answers. That’s true when seeking to overcome complex scenarios like this, but it’s also something to consider just because the sheer complexity of this chain of events might require more time and manpower than authorities alone will be able to muster.
