San Antonio, TX — September 1, 2024, Cesar Zamarripa Aviles was killed and Sebastian Ceballos was injured following a car accident at 2:36 a.m. on I-35.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened on southbound lanes of the interstate in the area of North Pine.

According to officials, 29-year-old Cesar Zamarripa Aviles was in a Ford F-150 reportedly going northbound in the southbound lanes. 24-year-old Sebastian Ceballos was in a southbound Chevy Silverado. The vehicles ended up colliding head-on. Zamarripa Aviles was killed while Ceballos was injured.

People may be tempted to jump to conclusions reading these details, and that’s understandable. But there can always be unusual details that need investigations. A crash like this is no exception.
For example, I recall a while back here in DFW there was a toll road that saw an unusually high number of wrong way accidents. After careful research, it turned out that the “Do Not Enter” signs were actually too high, so drivers couldn’t really see them. They lowered the signs, and lo and behold the number of wrong way incidents went down.
I’m not suggesting that happened here, but that’s why it’s best to let the evidence speak for itself. Whether this was due to something common or not, it’s up to the investigations to ultimately ensure those affected by this crash get clear answers. Anything short of that isn’t going to do anyone any good.
