UPDATE (February 11, 2025): Reports have been released which identify the woman who was injured and lost her unborn baby boy as a result of this accident as 33-year-old Casi Hughes. The hit-and-run vehicle has yet to be located, according to these reports, as well. Investigations continue.
Palestine, TX — July 3, 2024, a pregnant woman was injured following a pedestrian versus hit-and-run car accident at about 9:30 p.m. along East Palestine Ave.
According to authorities, a pregnant woman was on foot attempting to cross the road with several other people in the vicinity of the East Palestine Avenue and Gardner Drive intersection when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the pregnant woman was hit by a motor vehicle. The striking vehicle allegedly fled the scene, the person(s) inside failing to stop and render aid of any sort to the victim.
The woman suffered reportedly critical injuries as a result of the hit-and-run. Her unborn child did not end up surviving, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
