Authorities allege that the driver of the Lincoln was under the influence of alcohol. They recommended a charge for intoxication assault. Folks tend to think that’s where these situations end, but most of the time, there is more to the story. This late at night, drunk drivers are often on their way home from a bar. That could mean there’s a bar that illegally over-served the driver, which could expose the alcohol provider to criminal investigations, fines, license suspensions, and liability for resulting injuries. But if authorities haven’t investigated beyond the driver’s actions, they could easily overlook that. Hopefully efforts are being made to ensure those affected by this accident are actually getting the whole story.
