Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I certainly don’t know more about this crash than what’s in the public already. However, people sometimes jump to conclusions when accidents involve younger drivers, and that’s a concern investigations need to be able to overcome. I can’t count how many times families have come to me about crashes involving young drivers where even authorities were hasty in their efforts, and they overlooked important, extenuating circumstances. Mechanical issues, tire failure, braking issues, roadway hazards, medical conditions—likely or not, these possibilities are worth consideration after any serious crash. The ages of the drivers shouldn’t have bearing on that.
