With single-vehicle wrecks, it’s not unusual for there to be few confirmed details. Frankly they don’t always get the attention they deserve, as people are sometimes quick to blame the driver and be done with it. In my experience, even authorities may just put together a rough timeline of events and then move on to other responsibilities. That can leave the people affected by an accident with an incomplete story and many unanswered questions.
That’s not to ay authorities drop the ball every time—far from it, as most officers are fully capable of conducting a thorough investigation if allowed the right resources and time. To say whether that’s happening after a given wreck, people often need to consider how satisfied they are with the answers they’re getting. If they feel like authorities have everything covered, that tends to mean the investigation is in good hand. If it seems like something is missing or wrong, though, then a second look may be needed to ensure nothing important slipped through the cracks.
