Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With single-vehicle accidents, things can be a lot more complex than people realize. It’s not always as simple as just checking for speeding and distracted driving. Were there issues with the road? Did the vehicle have any defects? Was the driver unlawfully over-served by a bar? Was there another driver who fled the scene? Likely or not, all kinds of factors can happen, and investigators need to have the experience and tools to look into them thoroughly. Frankly, I’ve seen time and time again that relying solely on authorities for that can be risky. For folks in need of help and answers, minimizing that risk through more thorough independent investigations can be a prudent step.
