Newton County, TX — October 1, 2024, a Call teen was injured due to a car accident at around 5:13 p.m. along County Road 3073.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened off the corner of the County Road 3073 and Highway 87 intersection.
Investigators said that a 17-year-old boy from Call was in a Dodge Ram going westbound through the intersection. Afterward, the vehicle somehow ran off the side of the road where it crashed. Due to the accident, the teen had reportedly serious injuries. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident.

When it comes to crashes involving teenagers, authorities can sometimes be hasty in their judgments. It is true that statistically younger drivers are more likely to make mistakes. But that doesn’t mean investigators should just ignore other possibilities without ruling them out. Any crash can involve things like vehicle defects, road hazards, medical conditions, lack of signage or lighting, poor road design, alcohol, etc. A victim’s age shouldn’t determine whether or not investigations are thorough. But some families find that it does, which is usually when there has to be some outside pressure to ensure authorities aren’t missing anything important.
