Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When it comes to single-vehicle wrecks, a lot of people will just assume the driver did something wrong and move on. In reality, there are a lot of reasons a crash can happen without a driver having control over the situation. Tire blowouts, medical conditions, mechanical defects, missing lighting or signage, etc. And even when they do make mistakes, there could be other surrounding issues, such as faulty safety devices or a bar illegally over-serving a driver. Common or not, it’s important to let the evidence speak for itself.
Unfortunately, when authorities are equally as quick to dismiss these accidents, they tend to miss that evidence. That’s why so many people who call the firm with unanswered questions were affected by single-vehicle wrecks like this. Maybe nothing unusual happened here, but I wouldn’t count on preliminary public details to determine that.
