Houston, TX — December 23, 2022, Benito Del Toro Sustaito was possibly injured due to a car accident involving an alleged hit-and-run.
Preliminary information from Harris County officials indicates that the incident happened at approximately 1:47 a.m. in the area of U.S. 59/Southwest Freeway and St. Emanuel.

It appears that 26-year-old Benito Del Toro Sustaito was in a Ford Fusion traveling northbound along the freeway. While doing so, police say that a Dodge Challenger hit the Ford. That driver then allegedly fled the scene.
Details say that Del Toro Sustaito was taken from the scene, but injuries were not specified. The other driver is said to be facing a charge for failure to stop and render aid. No further information can be confirmed at this time.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It’s at least encouraging to know those involved in this incident will see the situation through the criminal system, whatever the ultimate result of that may be. But one thing to keep in mind is these situations aren’t always as simple as one driver versus another. In fact, hit-and-runs can bring up outside factors that require specific steps to address. Alcohol, for example, is a common factor that can actually involve local businesses illegally over-serving customers in addition to the runaway drivers. Have authorities been thorough to consider these other possibilities here?
