How Did This Accident Occur?

When folks see a single-vehicle car accident, they tend to just assume the driver must have done something wrong. I’d never pretend that’s not possible or even that it’s not common. But jumping to conclusions never helped anyone, and it can lead to other crucial possible factors slipping through the cracks.

For example, did the driver experience a medical event? Was there an object in the road? Does their vehicle have any sort of defect? Was there another reckless driver who cut them off or who was coming into their lane? Is this a stretch of road or intersection where crashes are unusually frequent?

These are just some of the questions I’m used to seeing from thorough independent accident reconstructions. By looking at a serious crash from all angles, investigators are able to secure as much evidence as possible and catch anything unusual that might slip through the cracks of a typical, shallow accident investigation.

Sometimes, authorities can do that sort of investigation on their own. A lot of the time, they lack either the resources or the motivation. So if authorities here are able to give this crash the attention it deserves, that would be good to hear. If not, though, it would be far from the first time a single-vehicle accident fared better in the hands of independent professionals.
