San Antonio, TX — June 2, 2024, Andres Gutierrez was killed following a car accident that happened around 2:00 a.m. on Interstate 10.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened along the 1400 block of I-10 E. on the westbound lanes.
According to officials, 18-year-old Andres Alejandro Gutierrez was in a Lexus that reportedly traveled off the right side of the road. It went into a side skid before then crashing into a metal crossbeam along the interstate. As a result, Gutierrez sustained fatal injuries.
Right now, the cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.

I can only hope authorities were thorough and unbiased in their investigations. Not to suggest anything specific about this accident, but single-vehicle wrecks and wrecks involving teen drivers are two types of accidents authorities don’t often give enough to.
Both involve common factors like speeding or distracted driving. But there are always other factors to consider which the driver may have had little or no control over. Did a mechanical defect occur? Was there a medical emergency? Were there objects in the road or perhaps a design flaw in the roadway itself? Is there missing signage or lighting in the area? Did some other reckless driver flee the scene? Likely or not, someone lost their life. It’s important their loved ones at least know they’re getting the whole story.
