Authorities recommended a charge for intoxication assault.

One thing I have yet to see is if authorities are investigating where the alleged drunk driver may have been prior to the accident. Folks don’t often realize drunk drivers may be just one part of the story. It’s important they’re held accountable, but if they were illegally over-served by a local alcohol provider, it’s just a matter of time before another drunk driver comes along to get more people hurt.

I checked out some of the alcohol providers near the crash scene, and a few of them showed up in the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission’s public database for violation investigations. One establishment was even investigated for allegedly over-serving customers. Could it be that one of these establishments over-served this driver? If so, there may need to be a lot more than a TABC investigation for them to learn their lesson.
