If the allegations here are true, have authorities looked into where this driver was coming from? Investigations could show that a local alcohol provider, such as a bar or restaurant, illegally over-served the driver. That would expose them multiple legal penalties, such as fines, criminal investigations, or liability for the resulting injuries.

Unfortunately, that’s not something authorities often investigate on their own. Once there’s someone facing charges, they tend to move on. Well, I’ve helped hundreds of families confront negligent alcohol providers after a serious accident. They never want some bad guy to point their finger at. They want accountability. So as important as it is for a reckless drunk driver to face consequences, it would be irresponsible to put all of the focus on them when there could be an accomplice out there still putting the community at risk.
