Lackawanna County, PA — January 16, 2024, Aleen Ameen, Harvrist Zebari, Berivan Zebara, Shahzinaz Mizouri, and Fatma Ahmed were killed in a truck accident on I-81.
Multiple sources put the crash between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Scott Township area along northbound lanes of the interstate.
WICZ Fox 40 identified the victims killed in the crash as follows:
- Aleen Ameen, 19
- Harvrist Zebari, 42
- Berivan Zebara, 43
- Shahzinaz Mizouri, 56
- Fatma Ahmed, 71
WICZ also identified 22-year-old Parjan Ameen as someone injured due to the accident.
According to current statements, the incident happened following an initial single-vehicle wreck that left a Honda Odyssey disabled along the interstate. Following this crash, four of the victims were outside the van. One had been traveling in a separate car and stopped at the scene. While there, a tractor-trailer crashed into the stationary van, hitting the people outside the vehicles in the process.
Right now, there are no charges or citations reported. Investigations into the factors surrounding the accident are ongoing.
