Addison Man Killed in Truck Accident on Highway 33 in Washington County, WI

It appears that a 61-year-old Addison man was in a vehicle going eastbound on the highway. While slowing to make a turn, another vehicle rear-ended the Addison man, forcing his vehicle into the oncoming lanes where it crashed head-on with a semi-truck. The Addison man suffered fatal injuries as a result.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Generally speaking, a rear-end collision doesn’t happen unless the rear driver did something wrong. It is possible there were extenuating circumstances that driver couldn’t avoid, but things like distraction, speeding, fatigue, and following too closely are just too common to ignore. But with a scene as chaotic as a crash involving a commercial truck, I can’t help wondering if authorities are able to dedicate the proper time and resources to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks. If nothing else, the victim’s loved ones deserve to know they’re getting the full story.
