Accident Report
February 13, 2026, a woman was killed and Adam Mowery and three others were injured after a car accident at 12:25 p.m. on Highway 243.
According to initial details about the crash, it happened between Kaufman and Canton at the intersection of TX-243 and Farm-to-Market 47.
Investigators said that a Hyundai Tucson was going northbound through the intersection while a Toyota Tacoma was going eastbound. The vehicles somehow crossed paths and collided with each other.
Due to the collision, the woman driving the Hyundai was fatally injured. 48-year-old Adam Mowery and a 16-year-old, who were passengers in the Hyundai, had injuries. Two people from the Tacoma were also injured. No further information can be confirmed at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Two vehicles crossing paths and colliding at an intersection generally points to a possible failure to yield. But knowing why that failure to yield may have happened can be complex. A proper investigation won’t just begin and end at looking for distracted driving or speeding. It should also look at possible vehicle defects, issues with signage at the intersection, possible emergency situations, poor road conditions, medical conditions, issues with tires or brakes, etc.
In my experience, victims and families get the most information when they follow up with the authorities. If they find that authorities are looking into all of these things, then they can rest assured the crash is getting the attention it needs. But if authorities start to come up short, they can have independent investigators step in and pick up the slack. That way, nothing important slips through the cracks.
