Montague County, TX — September 21, 2024, Aaliyah Brown was killed following a single-car accident shortly before 8:15 p.m. along U.S. Highway 81.
According to authorities, 25-year-old Aaliyah Brown was traveling in a southeast bound Hyundai Elantra on U.S. Highway 81 approaching the Fruitland Road bridge when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the vehicle failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered to the right, leaving the active lanes of the highway and crossing over the shoulder before exiting the road altogether. Following that, it collided head-on with one of the concrete bridge supports beneath Fruitland Road.
Brown suffered critical injuries as a result of the wreck; she was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. However, she was ultimately unable to overcome the severity of her injuries, having there been declared deceased. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
