Accident Report
August 31, 2026, San Jacinto Ortiz was injured as the result of an alleged drunk driver accident at around 9:23 p.m. on Scarsdale Boulevard.
In preliminary statements, officials said that the crash happened at the intersection of Scarsdale Boulevard and Highland Meadow Drive.
According to officials, 51-year-old San Jacinto Ortiz was in a Mitsubishi Mirage going eastbound. A Ford F-250 was going southbound when it reportedly failed to yield. Due to this, the vehicles collided.
As a result of the crash, San Jacinto Ortiz reportedly had serious injuries. The other driver had no reported injuries. Authorities allege that the Ford driver may have been under the influence of alcohol, and they recommended a charge for DWI.
Additional details are unavailable at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Authorities said they think alcohol might have been involved here. Hopefully they’ve continued to confirm that one way or the other. Maybe it seems like it wouldn’t really matter, so long as that driver faces appropriate charges. But alcohol, unlike drugs, can have implications beyond the crash scene.
For example, if investigations found that a driver was drunk on their way home from a bar or restaurant, that establishment would need to be investigated, as well. I’ve handled hundreds of drunk driving accident investigations where it turned out an alcohol provider unlawfully over-served the driver. That meant they, too, could be held accountable for contributing to the accident.
So, has that been ruled out here? I’d like to think authorities didn’t move on before getting the whole story, but it would be far from the first time a crash like this needed independent investigations to get the whole story.
Let me know in the comments if you think there could be more going on here that the preliminary reports say.
