How Did This Accident Occur?

Was the box truck speeding? Did the Cadillac turn when it wasn’t safe? Was either driver distracted or fatigued? Did the truck or the Cadillac have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? I don’t claim to know the answer to these questions, even with more than 30 years of experience with accident investigations, but these the sort of things authorities should consider in their investigation.

Investigators will work to reconstruct this crash using vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage, while cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time. A qualified expert should examine the vehicles if authorities suspect a mechanical issue played a role in this accident.
