Accident Report

July 20, 2026, two people were injured as the result of a car accident at around 9:46 p.m. along Highway 360.

According to preliminary information about the accident, the crash happened on an exit ramp at the intersection of State Highway 360 and East Division Street.

Authorities said that a Ford Fusion was going northwest, allegedly without its headlights on. While doing so, a four-vehicle crash occurred. From a Jeep Gladiator involved in the crash a 41-year-old man sustained serious injuries. A 69-year-old woman in the Jeep had moderate injuries. It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt.

Authorities say they recommended charging the Ford Fusion driver for driving without headlights. Additional details are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

If it’s true that someone was going around without headlights, that’s obviously very wrong. The sun is well down by 9:46 p.m. Maybe if this happened as the sun is setting, it takes people a little bit to realize they should probably turn their lights on. But when it’s that dark, failing to turn them on is either a conscious, reckless choice or perhaps a sign the driver wasn’t thinking straight. With that in mind, did authorities look into alcohol as a possibility here? In car accident investigations I’ve had where someone had their lights off, it often turned out they were intoxicated, on drugs, or perhaps going through some kind of medical episode. It would be concerning if authorities hadn’t considered those possibilities here.
